Humboldt Glacier - South

The Humboldt Glacier (often discussed as one of Greenland’s major outlet glaciers) drains a broad sector of the ice sheet into the Arctic Ocean and historically has presented large ice cliffs at its terminus. Like many Greenland glaciers, it has experienced thinning, retreat, and increased ice discharge in recent decades. Ocean-driven melting at ice fronts and atmospheric warming contribute to mass loss. Monitoring via satellites and fieldwork shows dynamic changes in flow and mass balance that reflect broader trends across the Greenland Ice Sheet.
